Application of Vacuum Gas Quenching Furnace in High Speed Steel M2 Saw Blad
High-speed steel M2 (i.e. W6Mo5Cr4V2 steel) is a commonly used molybdenum-based high-speed tool steel with the advantages of high hardness, high wear resistance and good toughness. Therefore, it is widely used in the manufacture of various tools, molds and wear-resistant parts. M2 steel has the characteristics of a greater tendency to carbides, so it has strict requirements for heat treatment protection. The use of vacuum gas quenching process can effectively improve its performance, reduce oxidation and decarburization, and ensure the surface quality of the workpiece.
The vacuum gas quenching process curve of high-speed steel M2 (W6Mo5Cr4V2) saw blade is as follows, which can be fine-tuned according to actual production needs and equipment conditions:
1. Preheating stage
450°C~500°C, usually determine the holding time according to the size and thickness of the workpiece, about 10~15 minutes for every 10mm thickness (to prevent thermal stress caused by rapid heating).
850°C~900°C, keep warm for 10~15 minutes.
1050°C~1100°C, keep warm for 5~10 minutes to ensure uniform heating of the material.
Heating rate: medium speed heating to avoid local overheating of the material.
2. Austenitization stage
Heating temperature: 1180°C~1220°C (the specific temperature is selected according to the material thickness and hardness requirements).
Hot holding time: 15~30 minutes (depending on the thickness of the saw blade, usually 10 mm thickness is kept hot for 10 minutes).
3. Quenching stage
Cooling medium: high-pressure nitrogen (or argon).
Cooling pressure: 5-10 bar (usually 6-8 bar).
Cooling rate: ≥50°C/s, quickly pass through the brittle zone of 550°C~300°C.
Target hardness: The hardness reaches 63~65HRC after quenching.
4. Tempering stage
Tempering times: 2~3 temperings are recommended.
Tempering temperature: 540°C~570°C (adjusted according to hardness requirements).
Tempering time: 2~3 hours each time.
Cooling method: air cooling.
